“Kids Box Car Race”

Young people are extremely important to us at Deerfield Raceway.  We strive hard to be fan friendly and family friendly.  If you’ve read through our schedule you know that we definitely try to involve our “Future Racers”, our kids.

 

 

 

Rules:

 

Description:

1.    A box car is made out of cardboard.  The car must be made out of a cardboard box.  Not wood or metal allowed.

2.    The sides of the box must me painted.

3.    There is no bottom or top to the car. (The child will be able to step into the box and lift it up like “Fred Flintstone” style.

4.    The size of the car can vary.  It must be large enough to step into yet small enough to carry with you as you race.

5.    A box car must have a number on both sides.  Entrants name must be on the box as well.

6.    Car should be designed in good taste.  Any cars that the judges deem inappropriate will be removed from competition.

7.    A model box car will be on display 3 weeks prior before the race.

8.    There will be four divisions of racing for the box car event. 

      Ages – 2-3-4 Mini Stock

      Ages – 5-6-7 Hobby Stock

      Ages – 8-9-10 Sport Stock

      Ages – 11-12 Late Models

9.    There will also be a best appearing box car trophy presented to the best in show.

10.                       Every child will need one parent on the track with them the night of the race.

11.                       Every child need to wear lace up tennis shoes.

12.                       Every child must have fun!
