 2012 Jr. Sprint Rules
 

Rules

Age 8 to 15 years old.

 

Chassis will follow Deerfield Raceway Micro Sprints Rules, except for the following:

 

          1.  Car must use a used Micro Frame chassis and cage.

          2.  Wing not mandatory, but recommended.

          3.  A gear ratio of 5.74 to 1 or higher is legal.

          4.  Minimum drive ratio is 5.73 to 1.

          5.  Hoosier tires only.

          6.  Max tire circumference 65".

          7.  550 lb. Minimum weight after feature.

          8.  Driver and arm restraints are mandatory.

          9.  Starter switch must be in reach of driver.

       10.  Chain guard must be constructed to prevent chain from

               hitting the driver in case of chain failure.

        11.  Front and rear bumper to be 4" to 6" narrower than the over

               all width of the front and rear tires.  Front bumper to be a

               loop style bumper.   

 

Engine will be 9 H.P. Honda GX 270 Industrial - Model QAEZ, Honda part  #558400 with electric starter that is functional.

 

          1.  Governor is not mandatory.

          2.  Counter balance shaft is mandatory.

          3.  Air cleaner must be stock  as per O.E.M.

          4.  Must run stock 9 HP Cam; lift and profile subject to degree

               wheel and dial indicator tech.  No aftermarket reground cams  

               permitted.  Compression release must be functional.

          5.  All valve train components must remain stock.  No tech

               on valve lash adjustments.

6.  Stock 9 HP carburetor only; bores, venture, jet, orifices, 

     emulsion tube and other internal  part  diameters are subject to     

     tech against a known stock 9 HP carburetor.     

          7.  No lightening of flywheel; must contain all internal magnets 

               and the generating coil intact and functional as per O.E.M.

          8.  Combustion chamber subject to minimum volume cc tech.

               Multiple head gaskets may be used to meet min. volume tech.

          9.  Ignition timing must remain in stock location.  Subject to

              degree wheel BTC tech.

          10.  No porting, polishing, beveling or adding epoxy. Removal  

                 or additional of material in port areas is not permitted!    

          11.  Stock bore and stroke only.

          12.  Any component not mentioned is to remain as per O.E.M.  

          13.  Do not read anything into the engine rules what is not there!

 

Clutch is to be shoe style only.  No plated type disc clutches.

 

 Fuel/Exhaust System

          1.  Pump gas only. No hot fuel or racing gas. 

2.  Fuel subject to tech by electronic meter, water test or

     gas calibrated hydrometer.

3.  Gravity fed fuel system only.

4.  Muffler must be factory only. Exterior and outlet hole must

     must remain stock appearing.  Exit hole length and maximum

     inside diameter subject to tech.          

          5.  No flammable oil additives. Oil subject to flame test after  

               feature event.  

 

Tech inspection specifications will be published.

2012 Engine Claim : An Engine may only be claimed after winning three feature events. The Claim in the Jr. Sprint Division, for engine only, is $600 and Claimer's engine.Only the owner of a car finishing on the lead lap the night of said Claim may claim the engine. Claim must be placed with Deerfield's Race Director thirty minutes prior to race. Engine being claimed must win the feature event the night of the Claim to consummate Claim. If any owner refuses to sell their engine upon proper claim, that car will be suspended for the remainder of the season in the Deerfield Raceway Jr. Sprint Division. 

Spirit and Intent:  The purpose of the Jr. Sprint Class is to provide a

          relatively cost efficient, controlled and competitive class for our

          younger racers.  In an effort to limit expensive performance

          modifications it may be necessary at times to alter the rules.
